Obituary: JEMISON WILLIAMS DURANT
Jemison Williams DuRant of 1613 Lincoln Road, Wilmington, drifted away on Saturday, March 7, 2015.
He was born on February 19, 1936, the son of the late Oscar Earl and Lynn Williams DuRant.
He spent many years safely piloting ships up and down the Cape Fear River until his retirement in 1992 from the Wilmington Cape Fear Pilots Association. He spent many hours sharing his knowledge of boating and wood working with everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Peggy Konig DuRant; daughter Mary Ellen DuRant of Rutherfordton, NC; son Jemison (Tammy) DuRant of Wilmington; and son Earl (Paula) of Hampstead; four grandchildren, Heather (John) Williams of Hampstead, Jordan Elizabeth DuRant of Wilmington, Haley Nicole DuRant of Hampstead and T. C. (Becca) Smith of Leland and one Great-grandchild, Tyler Nance.
Friends and family will be received from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10th at the family home at 1613 Lincoln Road. A private service will be held for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Heart Association, The American Diabetes Association or The American Cancer Society.
